Los Lunas Hotel & Travel Guide
A wise man once said, “There’s something remarkable about a small town.”
Perhaps you can’t name the feeling, though it makes you smile. The friendly smiles, the kind pats on the shoulder, the willingness to chat with you while standing in line at the coffee shop. It’s been too long since you felt this freely given camaraderie, and take heart: you needn’t travel to the furthest regions of the continent to find it.
Just 25 miles south of Albuquerque is just what you’ve been looking for—small-town friendliness ensconced in red desert sands. Book hotels in Las Lunas, NM and see what you’re missing.
Visiting Los Lunas
Follow the sound of dancing water toward the very center of town. There, rolling along in all its majesty, is the mighty Rio Grande. Cowboys, outlaws, and other legends may have forded this very spot, or watered their mounts while on the run from one lawman or another. Locals will tell you to enjoy the greenery around the river, for once you step outside city limits the desert makes its presence known.
If the river has sparked your sense of wonder, book one of our Los Lunas rental cars and head just 35 miles south to the Sevilleta National Wildlife Refuge. The Rio Grande steams through this remarkable sanctuary, a vision of power and beauty amidst grassland and cliffs.
You could recover from your day in the wilderness at one of our Los Lunas hotels…or you can keep driving north to “The Duke City.” Albuquerque has not been a small town for decades, but as you roam its downtown area, you will see traces of the friendliness and charm you encountered in Los Lunas. Get to know this former small town by staying in one of our hotels in Albuquerque.
There is something magical about a small community standing on the edge of a vast wilderness. Let Travelocity show you that magic—and more—no matter where you want to travel. Whether you’re craving another stay in hotels near Los Lunas, NM or want to fly to the far edges of the earth, we’ll get you there. Travel wisely, old friend, and find all those small towns you’ve been searching for.

"Lovely stay at Hotel Chaco. Beautiful design. Quiet. Extremely comfortable bed and bedding! Didn't really take advantage of the amenities as the weather didn't cooperate when we tried to go the pool (closed for a thunderstorm). Stunning restaurant/bar on the top floor with great views and cool vibe. Complimentary coffee bar in the morning (including expresso drinks). Walked to Old Town ABQ and the Sawmill Market across the street for dinner one night (pizza was great!). Room would be even better if the lighting was a little lighter -- needed help getting to the bathroom at night. Nightlight or better yet, motion light there? Would definitely stay here again, but would request a room with a balcony (and one that is not on a corner with visbility into our room from another room). Staff member who greeted us at check in was kind and welcoming but spoke so fast I had to ask her to repeat what she said, like 3-4 times."
